I read the articles last week that Dr. Zheng sent us. The "Wavelet-Based Multiresolution Features for Detecting Duplications in Images" article makes it clear why we need MATLAB for this project.
The other day, I reviewed the code Yang Wang provided for us. Since I am still unfamiliar with MATLAB, I ran a couple of the M files just to see what they would do. After providing an image for one of them, I got it to spit out a couple numbers. Questions pending; I'll go over the code some more this week.
