Progress Update

Jacqui and I got together to go over the code for the project.  We each had trouble getting the code to compile.  While looking at the code we gathered information on which we thought may have been causing the compilation errors. We noticed that the file paths were different in many places and weren't sure which we needed to change (if all).

We were able to meet with Yang about this.  He showed us which lines we needed to change.  Once I changed these lines I was able to compile the code.

Another issue I ran into is that I don't have enough memory on my school account to process all of the photos.  I was hoping to be able to get a matlab version for my home computer, however, I have not been able to do that.  Dr. Zheng said that it is ok if I just use one or two pictures to start processing my code.  Once it works for these couple of pictures I could hand the code over to Yang for full testing over all of the pictures.

As for now I am working on the RGB color feature.

Meeting - January 20, 2011

Back from break!!!

This semester Dr. Zheng said that Kaitlyn and Jacqui will start working a lot more with implementation.  We will start by implementing color features.  We will each work on different features.

We also decided that we will work with Yang to go over how to turn the knowledge from the color features papers into code.  We will also discuss which files and the placement of the code.

Dr. Zheng also wanted Kaitlyn and Jacqui to get together to figure out the plans for the conference reservations.  We will be going to the conference on April 16th through the 18th.  We will be staying at the Flamingo hotel and flying out to Vegas using Southwest airlines.

Meeting - December 9, 2011

Due to the Christmas break, we will not be meeting for about a month.  We will meet up again as soon as Dr. Zheng gets back from vacation and we start school again.

During the meeting Dr. Zheng looked over our progress reports and made a few suggestions about the formatting.  He suggested we revise them and send them to him for final approval.

Dr. Zheng also said that next semester we will be working more actively in the programming of more features.  He said that Jacqui and Kaitlyn could start working on programming a couple features over break.

I hope everyone has a great break!  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Progress Update

I have read through the color features papers.  I have also completed the survey sent to us by the Computing Research Association.

The mid-year progress report is what I am working on now.  I have finished the first draft.  I will be sending this in as soon as I finalize it.

Preparation and report

I can't believe how busy we've all been the past couple weeks, what with finishing projects and finals coming up. I'm currently completing my CREU midyear progress report. It will be finalized tomorrow after Dr. Zheng takes a look at them at our next meeting. Also, finished reading the papers Dr. Zheng sent us on color features.

Progress Update

I have finished reading all of the papers (excluding the color features papers that were recently sent).  Since I received the program, I have been reviewing the code to understand it better.
I also reviewed and submitted changes on the ITNG paper submission.

I will continue to go through the code and I will make some changes so that I can start testing it.  I will be comparing my results with our previous results as well as the results received by the use of the DCT method.  I will also read the color features papers so that I can get ideas in order to implement color features within our code when we are ready.

Matlab Code Meeting - Monday, November 14

Yang sent Kaitlyn and Jacqui the commented code.  During the meeting, Yang discussed the flow of the project, the changes Kaitlyn and Jacqui needed to make to test different images to try to receive better results.  He also discussed the naming method for the photographs.

Yang also showed us a flow chart he created that was based on the program code.  It showed the structure of the code from multiple files and what those particular files are being used for.
